Strategy: Tight-Aggressive
Playing poker online against a tight-aggressive player is a dangerous game. Tight-aggressive online poker players usually don’t enter a hand unless they’ve got some pretty solid hole cards, and most times they’ll come out betting. They don’t usually let people see the flop without raising beforehand, and if the flop hits, they’re not going to stop betting unless they’re trying to check-raise you. The one good thing about tight-aggressive poker opponents is when they stick to their tight game plan. A lot of tight-aggressive players find so much success by playing only the best hands that they’ll start to play too predictably, only betting and raising when they’ve got a good hand. If your tight-aggressive player falls into this habit, then you’ll be able to make solid reads against him, making him susceptible for blind steals and minimizing his winnings when he finds a hand worth playing. Tight-aggressive players are still tight players, so they can be bought off of their blinds pretty frequently, with fairly minimal risk. If you only raise two or three times the big blind, that’s generally enough to scare them off if they don’t have a good hand, but if they call you can safely assume that they’ve got solid hands and back out with minimal damage if the flop doesn’t hit you.
