At 19,089 tons and with 376 well-appointed cabins and suites, Braemar upholds the Fred Olsen tradition of small-ship intimacy without compromising on personal space.

On board, the Baroness’ performance is small and intimate before returning to the United States for a charitable event in South Florida later this summer. Baroness Elisa defines the best in cabaret theater and South Florida audiences are invited support the leading Gay and Lesbian organization, Compass,in a spectacular charity fundraiser in Delray Beach on Sunday, August 7th.

Compass, Inc. Great musical theater songs the Baroness has chosen for this charity theatrical event are dramatically intense, touching, witty, ironic, and just plain charming. The intimate three hundred seat Crest Theatre in Delray Beach provides a perfect theater venue where the Baroness Elisa’s charisma and audience connection can thrive. The Crest Theatre is located at the historic Old School Square, 51 North Swinton Ave., in downtown Delray Beach.

What a Parent Must Do to Stop Online Predators

To monitor or not to monitor kids online — that’s a question millions of parents face. On the one hand, software for monitoring kids’ online behavior is a relief for ever-busy Moms and Dads. On the other hand, parents should be very careful when relying on technology in such a delicate matter as parental control.
Teens can freely access the Internet from computers at school, at their friends’ homes and in public places such as libraries and even from cell phones and video game consoles. Internet is everywhere, that is why kids and teenagers (and their parents, too) should be well aware of its dangers to avoid them.

Here are some figures from the telephone survey made by the Pew Internet and American Life Project:

65% of all parents and 64% of all teens say that teens do things online that they wouldn’t want their parents to know about.

These “things” usually means visiting sites parents find “questionable” or “inappropriate”, for example, so-called adult content. And, of course, chatting online.

What kids say in chat rooms, whom they communicate with and what they post on web logs and other public Internet places can get them into much more serious trouble than just viewing porn.

81% of parents of online teens say that teens aren’t careful enough when giving out information about themselves online and 79% of online teens agree with this.

Sometimes teenagers post online their first and last names, postal addresses, phone numbers, pictures and give lots of personal information about themselves. It enables a predator easily identify and find this teen.

Unfortunately, sex predators teem in cyberspace. Sometimes they immediately start sexually explicit conversations with children. If a kid or a teen is forewarned and taught to end such a conversation immediately, he or she is relatively safe, except for moral damage from such a talk.

But there are others. They gradually allure their future victims by attention, affection, kindness, and even gifts. These individuals usually devote much time, money, and energy to this process. They listen to childrenand pretend to empathize with their problems. They even are aware of the latest music, hobbies, and interests of children. Some time later this person may succeed in arranging a face-to-face meeting with the kid — you can guess what for.

Such crimes are on the rise, so there are now even special units where law enforcement officers pose as children in chat rooms to lure predators into a trap.

The problem is so serious that Federal Bureau of Investigation had to launch Crimes Against Children (CAC) Program in 1997. So every parent should read and memorize tips from “A Parent’s Guide to Internet Safety” http://www.fbi.gov/publications/pguide/pguidee.htm

There are rules any teen should learn by heart: don’t believe everything they are told on-line, never reveal your name, age, birthday, graduation year, nickname or any other personal information while chatting.

Parents should talk to their children about online dangers. Moms and Dads must encourage their sons and daughters tell them about their online acquaintances, without fear of being scolded of punished.

But should parents use monitoring software? It’s a difficult question. Software for parental control is a useful tool, only if applied right.

My opinion is that monitoring software is “strong medicine”. Like any medicine, it has its own side effects that can be worse than the disease. Any medicine, if overused, can do harm. Computer monitoring is the last resort, when all the other means are exhausted. Don’t do it just because you think you should.

Using monitoring software will be appropriate if you feel you are losing control of the situation, or have lost it already.

For example, your teenage son or daughter seems to be completely withdrawn from family.

You don’t know his/her friends well enough–maybe you even haven’t seen them and doubt whether they exist at all. You have no idea whom he/she is chatting with. Your teenager receives phone calls from people you don’t know or is making long-distance calls to numbers you don’t recognize.
Your son or daughter gets letters, gifts or packages from people you haven’t heard about.

Every day he/she spends hours on the computer, especially at night. when you enter the room he/she changes the screen. Maybe you found pornography on your child’s computer. If your child uses an online account that belongs to someone else, you also should be alarmed.

Don’t keep the computer in your child’s bedroom. In fact, nearly three-quarters of home computers are located in a place like living room, according to the survey. A wise thing to do. If your child uses the Internet in a living room, it is easier to watch what he or she is doing online.

And, of course, there is a great variety of monitoring software products. Their purposes may vary from simply recording the time the computer is on/off to logging every keystroke your kid makes. Use one of them if you are sure it is absolutely necessary. But remember that your kid might be more technically savvy than you. Lots of them can erase their traces.

At any case, you must let your kid know you care for his or her safety — both offline and online.

The Joke’s On You — Who Should be the Butt of Your Jokes?

This article was prompted by something I heard (second hand)
about the performance of a local magician at a child’s birthday
party. Now, granted, this wasn’t done by a clown, but I’ve seen
clowns doing similar things. As one of his tricks, he has a
child (a young girl approximately 9 years old) holding two
handkerchiefs knotted together. He pulls her hands apart, and
instead of a third handkerchief appearing (or a flag, or
whatever else) he has a pair of ladies’ panties appear. The
magician received the reaction he wanted: the audience laughed
loud and long at the discomfiture of the young girl. She,
however, was on the verge of tears, having been publicly
humiliated, for having done nothing more than helping on stage
when asked.

As I say, this prompted some thought on my part. The first
thought I honestly had was about the insensitivity of this
particular magician. My next thought was empathy and sympathy
for the little girl. And my third thought was about how
differently a clown would (or should) have handled that entire
routine.

People think that a clown is someone who dresses foolishly, and
does foolish things. This is correct, as far as it goes. It’s
also been said that a clown is a living cartoon, a Looney Tunes
come to life, who sees and thinks differently than the ‘normal’
people. This, too, is true as far as it goes. But there’s
something deeper about being a clown.

As Floyd Schaffer puts it in his wonderful book, “If I Were a
Clown”, a clown is someone who lowers himself, in order to lift
someone else up. This is not limited to any sort of theological
context. David Ginn, one of my favorite authors, and a wonderful
kid’s magician, uses the same premise over and over in his book
“Clown Magic” with his ‘clown-in-trouble’ routine. In short,
when a trick doesn’t work, it’s never the fault of the child –
it’s the clown who looks foolish. The child is the one who makes
the rabbit appear, makes the ropes repair themselves, etc. We
performers are the foolish ones, who should have pie in our
faces, who are the ones humiliated, who are ‘brought low.’ It is
our audience, children or adult, who should be empowered,
triumphant, lifted up.

For example, when I perform at birthday parties, I’ll typically
do a very old routine, making spring flowers appear inside a
chick pan. As part of that, I’ll have several assistants from
the audience at various stage, including one where I use a
breakaway wand. For the uninitiated, that’s a wand that, unless
it’s held the proper way, seemingly breaks in your hand. Since
we performers are the ones who should bear the blame for this, I
take the blame myself, handing a normal wand to the child, and
holding the breaking wand myself. Who broke the prop? Me! Who
looks foolish? Me, not the volunteer. He’s there to enjoy the
birthday party, not to be a scapegoat.

In short, if only that magician had pulled the ‘underwear out of
thin air’ when he was holding the scarfs, what would have been
different? The child volunteer would have laughed as well
(assuming that he’d previously had the trick work in her hands),
the audience would have laughed as well, and the magician would
have been remembered a little bit fonder than he was.

As Benjamin Franklin said, we have to learn from the mistakes of
others; we won’t live long enough to make them all ourselves.
So, let’s learn to make ourselves the butt of the joke, not our
audience. After all, we’re being paid to be foolish; the
audience’s job is to enjoy it. Remember, the joke’s on you — as
it should be.

Reasons Online Poker is a Lot of Fun

Playing poker is fun and many individuals really enjoy gambling,
however frequently it is difficult for the gambler to engage in
his favored activity simply because many states do not have
casinos or gambling is illegal altogether. This means
individuals must play poker behind the scenes so to speak in
their homes with friends or else take a trip to Las Vegas,
Atlantic City, or another city where gambling is legal. However,
online poker has changed all of that and now that any individual
with an Internet connection and a desire to play poker can at
any time of day or night, online poker websites are seeing a
tremendous amount of growth and competition. The following
points explain why online poker has so many benefits and why it
is becoming so popular.

Online Poker Benefit #1 Home Sweet Home When you play poker
online you can do so from the comfort of your home. That means
if you want to play in your favorite chair or while relaxing in
bed you can do so. Or, if you have wireless internet you can
play wherever you want. This is a huge benefit because you don’t
have to leave your home or worry about playing in a crowded
casino, getting dressed up, and having to deal with a lot of
people. Plus, gambling is illegal in many states, so those who
live in states where there are no casinos really have no other
option other than gambling from their home computer.

Online Poker Benefit #2 Long Lines If you have ever visited a
casino before you understand that lines can frequently be long
and there are not always seats at the gambling table. As a
result, you must wait or play a game you are not overly
interested in simply because it is the only one available. This
is not the case with online gambling because you simply enter
the online casino and then are placed at a table, immediately!
Avoid long lines and wasting time at a real casino and choose to
play online.

Online Poker Benefit #3 Access The majority of states do not
have gambling casinos, so those interested in gambling in a
casino must either travel long distances to play the game they
enjoy or else hop online and play at any time. Obviously, the
second option is not only more feasible and affordable, it is
more logical as well. So, with online gambling websites
individuals have access to the games they love from the comfort
of their computer.

Online Poker Benefit #4 Online, All the Time! Poker gambling
websites are open 24 hours per day and 7 days per week,
something casinos can’t compete with. So, no matter if you want
to play a couple hands of cards each night before you go to bed,
or want to play all night every night, you can simply log into
your favorite online casino and enjoy playing your favorite game
on your schedule.

Online Poker Benefit #5 Discounts and Matches Would you ever
expect to walk into a casino and the casino match the amount of
money you brought to gamble with? This is a dream of most
players, but a dream come true for online gamblers. Most online
gambling websites offer a variety of benefits, discounts, and
deposit matches to individuals signing up with their site. Of
course, you must do the research and find out what is best, but
you will have more money to gamble with when you gamble online.

Online Poker Benefit #6 Multiple Tables Have you ever been in a
casino and wished you could play more than one table at once?
Well, with online gambling this is a reality. You have a higher
percentage chance of winning when you play two hands, which
means more money, so give it a try. You will probably like it!

Online Poker Benefit # 7 More Games Almost always, online poker
websites have more games than a typical casino has as well. As a
result, when you go online to play poker you will have so many
different types of games to choose from you will likely be
surprised. Play the ones you are familiar with, test out the
ones you are not, and figure out what your favorite gamble
really is!

Online Poker Benefit #8 No Dealers There are no dealers in
online gambling websites. Because of this, you won’t have to
worry about dealer mistakes occurring not to mention tipping
them. When there is no dealer the game goes faster, smoother,
and better for you.

Online Poker Benefit #9 No Pressure When you are playing poker
in a real casino there are a lot of pressures, especially from
the rest of the people around the table. When you play online,
you don’t have to worry if you don’t know what is going on, if
you want to talk, or if someone is looking at you, because you
are in the comfort of your own home!

Online Poker Benefit #10 No Traveling A fabulous benefit of
gambling online is that there is no traveling involved. You
don’t have to fill your tank up with gas, buy expensive drinks,
or spend time traveling to and from the casino. With online
gambling you choose where you gamble from, which makes you more
in control.

There are many other benefits to gambling online as well and
these are just a few of them. However, if you like to gamble and
it is illegal in your state or you simply don’t feel like
dealing with a casino in person then try gambling online. You
will like it, it is guaranteed.

Easy Ezine Promotion

If you have a website or e-business, you should definitely consider publishing an ezine. Once you have made the decision to publish an ezine and decided on the content, you now must learn how to promote your newsletter. There are many easy and free ways to promote your new ezine.

Here are some of my favorites:

Ezine Directories

There are hundreds of ezine directories on the web in which you can list your ezine for FREE. You might be asked to run their ad in your ezine or on your site in return for the free service. This is a good idea anyway, because the more people that read the directory, the more people that see YOUR listing. Here are a few to get you going.

Announcement Lists

Announcement lists are a great way to get the word out about your ezine. Subscribe to the lists and be sure to follow the guidelines for posting on each list. Once you get established on the lists, you should drop your postings to about once a month or every other week. This will prevent “overloading” people with your ad. Get started with these lists.

Ad Swaps

Once you get your ezine started, you will want to get your ad in other quality publications. A good and economical way of doing this is by ad swapping. You agree to place another publisher’s ad in your ezine and he/she places your ad in their ezine. This is a very effective way of gaining subscribers. Subscribe to these lists for finding publishers who want to swap ads.

Television Technology Continues To Improve

The technology of television has continued to advance through
the years too and these days there are more choices and
decisions to be made when buying a tv than ever before. Some of
the terms can be confusing too, but take heart, there is really
only a few basic things to keep in mind in order to make a
well-informed buying decision.

Most older tv sets made use of analog technology that only
allows so much data transfer of picture and sound at one time.
So that meant that television programs could only be presented
up to a certain quality level that often was not all that good.

However, with the digital age new ways of transferring the data
to television sets has come about and now both picture and sound
quality can be much better than ever before. You can still
purchase analog tv sets if you wish though, and the prices are
incredibly good at this point. Just bear in mind that the
technology is moving away from analog and will become almost
exclusively digital soon.

Didital television has made available high definition tv sets
that boast much improved picture quality and honestly, if you
are in the market for a television set that you wish to use for
some to come, you will want to get a high definition enabled tv
or HDTV.

>From there you can decide if you want to upgrade further to a
plasma or LCD screen. Both have very thin designs and can be
mounted almost anywhere, but they can be expensive. If your
busget allows for thwem why not get the best picture quality
possible? If it’s not necessary, don’t worry, because the
standard hdtv screen is still very good.

There is more to know about buying television sets and
accessories, but this should help you be more informed when you
make your next purchasing decision.
